The next generation
of leadership in haiti
Haiti’s young people have the potential to lead the country toward a more just and equitable society. But due to the obstacles these young people face, it’s difficult to get an education in Haiti.
Together, HTF and the Haitian Education and Leadership Program (HELP) are changing this. Through full university scholarships and leadership opportunities, we are developing a new generation of bold leaders, empowering them to dream big and reach their full potential.
The recipients of these scholarships have studied amid unimaginable circumstances to finish their high school education with the highest marks. But without resources, they are unable to attend university and apply their ingenuity for the greater good. Your investment helps build a community of university graduates who will drive change and create a more just future for Haiti.
Daphnée’s story:
Persistence & Passion for change
There’s nothing more beautiful than experiencing HELP’s mission come full circle! Daphnée was a determined student who earned a HELP scholarship in 2006, completed a fellowship program at Dartmouth College in 2010, and graduated from Université Quisqueya in Haiti in 2012 with a degree in agriculture & economics. She went on to graduate from the Bridge Program at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business in 2012. Now, Daphnée leads and serves her community as a Haiti-based Development and Communications Manager for HELP. In her role, she leads a team of five, manages local fundraising efforts that generate about half a million dollars annually, and oversees HELP’s new media production house, Konbit Media.
“HELP completely changed my life,” Daphnée shares. “It helped me and my family break free from the cycle of poverty for generations to come. It’s a privilege for me to extend this opportunity to others, both through my work at HELP and within my community.”
Rooting communities in hope
HELP provides students with full scholarships and unwavering support throughout their university journey. HELP’s holistic approach integrates the standard university curriculum with additional education in English, computer skills, citizenship, professional development, and leadership training.
HELP graduates impact lives far beyond their own. They send their siblings to university, mentor others, start businesses, and establish vital community resources. Each HELP graduate transforms their family, their community, and, ultimately, Haiti. Their vision for a brighter Haiti brings hope, inspiring change and transforming lives across the nation.
